Our mission is to streamline the school staff induction process to increase school leadership efficiency.

Problem Statement

Leaders and managers in the education industry need a way to conduct inductions in a less time consuming and more effective way.

Prototype 

The Value Proposition is displayed in the final prototype below. The validation and iteration processes were not excessive with the underlying nature of the solution being addressed in interviews and surveys as displayed in the validation board.

This is the prototype for what the front page of each induction will look like. S.I.M Online will offer 6 modules as a base and then additional modules based on packs or extra purchases. Each module will cover necessary information for each individual school. This prototype is the MVP to allow scalability to other industries in the future.

To address the specific pain of increasing regulatory compliance and,  thus paperwork, S.I.M Online offers a documents feature where all necessary documents can be uploaded from the files into S.I.M Online. These documents are then stored on schools S.I.M Online files as indicated in the prototype meaning everything is in the same spot.

This is the front page of a completed induction. The completion stickers will indicate to inductees which modules they have completed to ensure nothing is retaken. This can also be seen on the school's end so they are aware that the induction has been completed.

Validation

Interviews were conducted to validate the final solution with 100% of interviewees finding the solution is:

  • Timesaving

  • Addresses their paperwork problems.

  • Will decrease costs in the long-term

Value Proposition 

The Value Proposition was developed through interviews, surveys, a swot, pestle and secondary research which highlighted the key pains schools face with inductions.

These pains are the time-consuming nature of the induction and the increasing regulatory compliance. These pains are underpinned by the pain of low time-availability and the increasing costs for schools. These pains were lightened by our value proposition, which supplies an industry specific induction software that addresses the pains of:

      >Increasing regulatory compliance

      >Increasing costs

      >Decreasing efficiency

and creates gains of:

      >only having the quality interaction

      >Higher time availability

 This helped shape the Business Model as we adapted sections as the processes progressed.

The Current Market Environment

Economic

Nationwide inflation is causing schools' costs to increase forcing private schools to increase fees so these costs can be covered. To do this schools want to decrease time-consuming jobs, such as induction time not being commensurate with the outcomes and costs of the induction. Therefore, a technological solution that increases time availability. S.I.M Online will create efficiency through streamlining the induction process potentially decreasing costs as school leaders, the inductors, will have more available time and money will be spent more wisely and efficiently.

Legal

Schools are currently experiencing an increase in the regulatory compliance and work health and safety requirements. This increases the paperwork and the amount of work required by inductors and their PAs. It is also making it increasingly difficult for schools to keep up and creating uncertainty as to whether all necessary information has been covered. This uncertainty leads to instability in the induction process. Therefore, S.I.M Online can operate here, offering a feature that stores data, paperwork and the updated regulatory compliance laws for schools and their inductees to see.

Since 2020 there has been a significant reduction in the teaching workforce primarily due to:

  • The vaccine mandate

  • Teacher workload and conditions and teacher retention decreasing

Furthermore, an additional 70% of teachers are considering leaving the education sector.

These factors, combined with increasing demand from Universities for teaching student work placements has increased the need for new staff, TRT and Student Placement inductions. 

Interstate directions, such as fee free teaching degrees in Victoria, indicates nationally that this is an area that will continue to expand into the foreseeable future.
